I am currently a patient of Dr. Rettner, a great doctor of chiropractic, whom I will now introduce by sharing some of my own personal health journey. Raphael Rettner, DC, is now semi-retired, agreeing to see me as a patient because he enjoys "watching the transformation people go through." He's an expert chiropractor who began practicing in 1982 after graduating from Palmer College of Chiropractic West. In his commitment to providing compassionate, quality health care, Dr. Rettner not only continues to pursue education with pure intrigue, but he also teaches several chiropractic techniques that he created himself and is well regarded by other professionals in the field—which is how I heard of him from a past seminar attendee.
One thing I particularly appreciate about Dr. Rettner is his knowledge pertaining to the emotional body and its role in structural health. Over the years I've heard many times that emotional trauma can cause weird symptoms in the body, but no one's ever been able to say how or what to do about it. I knew Dr. Rettner was the right doctor immediately when, over the phone, he asked me, "Was anything traumatic happening during the time your symptoms began?" He then explained how the trauma of wanting to yell and scream at somebody and holding it back can cause tension to be stored in the neck. With a great first impression and a solid recommendation from someone regarded as one of the best chiropractors in all of Sweden, I decided to travel for his care about 250 miles from where I live.
And now… Thanks to Dr. Rettner, I finally have a general understanding of my strange and debilitating symptoms. I’m dealing with severe digestive disturbances complicated by a neck injury and several traumatic experiences that we’ve worked on together. My chronic inflammation and pain problems can be quite severe; it's taken many years to understand my different symptoms, which are unique and seem to transcend the normal scope for a diagnosis. It’s also been very difficult to get a good idea of what exactly is even happening, with complications ranging from persistent distraction to trouble breathing and even reality-shattering headaches at times. My health is finally improving tremendously, and I honestly don’t believe I‘d be saying that if I hadn't met Dr. Rettner. He's not only helped me understand my symptoms, he's taught me how to get/stay healthy.
Dr. Rettner’s care is wholistic in the sense that he combines emotional and structural therapies with nutritional guidance to address the root causes of many illnesses that affect people like myself every day. During our first visit, Dr. Rettner evaluated my structural health with impressive precision, finding problem areas before I had the chance to bring them up. We discussed my different traumas and came up with a plan to address each level of my healing journey according to my health goals. In practice, that looks like addressing the emotional roots in the stored tension and then identifying which structural support techniques are going to offer the gentlest, most effective, and most painless improvement.
It’s well known that emotions affect our nervous system, but not many people understand this reality to the same degree as Dr. Rettner. He’s got it down to an intuitive science; after several visits I’m beginning to process his sheer depth of knowledge and experience, as well as I’ve learned so much about my own health and what my body needs. I've learned many of the triggers for my symptoms, and I am now on the path to recovery. The fact that I’m writing these words right now is, quite frankly, amazing. After nearly 8 years, I was sure that I would spend the rest of my life with intense suffering. There were times I thought I could die from what I was going through. It's now been less than a year since I finally met Dr. Rettner, and my small hope has been transformed into an inevitability knowing that I am getting better.
I’ve often thought to myself that the kind of knowledge and experience Dr. Rettner has to share is beyond valuable. I truly hope for other professionals in the chiropractic field to learn from Dr. Rettner in order to carry his knowledge forward and help more people for generations. I’ve personally experienced many of Dr. Rettner’s chiropractic techniques, including some of his respiratory techniques, which have not only helped me breathe better and relieve swelling in my throat but have also improved my singing voice. His Chiropractic Respiratory Techniques work by addressing the structural causes of restrictions in the respiratory system, improving breathing, resulting in better sleep and energy naturally, all without drugs or surgery.
Dr. Rettner is hosting a seminar in person at the Life West Hayward Campus this November 8th-9th, from 12:00PM to 6:00PM. At this seminar, Dr. Rettner will teach chiropractic techniques such as endonasal adjusting, intraoral cranial and intraoral atlas adjusting, anterior rib adjustments, TMJ adjustments and hiatal hernia corrections, Fascial Alignment Stretch Technique (FAST), breathing exercises, and nutritional support. These treatments are effective for reducing snoring, improving breathing, sleep, and energy levels, shifting mouth breathing to nose breathing, taking more effective breaths, improving digestion, and releasing tight fascia in key areas to expand lung capacity.
As someone who’s suffered with an unimaginably torturous health condition, I’m grateful for Dr. Rettner, as he has helped me restore clarity to my vision and redefine my relationship with my health. As a patient, I recommend Dr. Rettner for anyone experiencing chronic pain or anyone who wants to lose weight or has difficulty sleeping or breathing right—as he will teach you what you need to do to stay healthy. I highly recommend chiropractors attend Dr. Rettner’s seminar, where you can learn from his wealth of experience and grow as a professional. 12 hours of seminar time will be well worth it for the opportunity to learn from Dr. Rettner's knowledge base and understanding.
