Celebrating a Legacy of Cannabis Culture at Cannifest in Eureka, CA!

ree

Here we go, happening this weekend, August 30th - 31st, 2025, Cannifest! My favorite cannabis culture celebration is happening right here at Halvorsen Park, on Eureka’s Waterfront Drive. This year's event is sure to draw crowds from far and wide as The String Cheese Incident is headlining the show! All of us here in Humboldt have a piece of the cannabis legacy in our hearts, and it’s awesome that we have this opportunity to welcome people into our community to see what we’re all about and share this year’s harvest.

Our community once thrived in cannabis culture; the plant in many ways helped us become who we are today. The early days of the industry allowed us the privilege to find ourselves, and each other. Cannifest represents the same people and communities that brought us nutrients for the plants, an abundance of award-winning quality product, arts, culture, and the deep-rooted connections that make it all make sense. Cannifest as an event is rooted in past events like Humboldt Green Week as well as many other great events over the past decade.

Halvorsen Park on Eureka’s waterfront is the perfect outdoor atmosphere to celebrate the harvests, taste this year's head stash, show our appreciation for this magical plant that’s been with humanity for thousands of years. It’s great we can openly show our love for those who helped keep the plant alive during its prohibition. I’m excited to see the people I know and love, and I’m happy for anyone who’s visiting here to see String Cheese Incident particularly because that’s how my family originally ended up moving here over 23 years ago - finding us a place here after attending a String Cheese Incident show.

One thing I love about Humboldt is that the community is very welcoming and accepting of people for who they are. And everyone who comes to Cannifest will witness that in all the amazing and talented people who come out to show us what they’ve got. I’m proud to see all the local artists in the lineup because I know that means we’re going to have an epic time. Chances are high that we’ve all been touched by this sacred plant in one way or another, and it shows in our passion for what we do whether it’s cultivation or making arts and music.

Thanks to the dozens of vendors and artists for providing everything from herbs, merch, and recreation, to alternative culture , arts, music, and education. I can’t wait to partake and dance the night away. Thanks to all the community who holds our vision for cannabis culture and makes it what it is. You inspire me to be who I am today and I know we’re all in for a treat this weekend. It’s safe to say that event attendees will experience the contagious energy that brings us all together. Partaking in the cannabis may make things even more interesting.

Expect cannabis related grow games, the YES WE CANN Parade, multiple stages featuring local and regional artists, glass galleries and demonstrations, a marketplace and lounge and several happening booths to hang out and meet friends like the family interactive zone with available arts and entertainment activities, and games. You can also learn about the plant history and the latest knowledge in the industry. There will be live art within the festival and on the Eureka Live Art Wall outside the show where dozens of artists paint together. I’m excited for the panel discussions featuring professionals and leaders in the industry, from California and across the nation.

This event has everything a cannabis lover can ask for, and more. As a chronnoisseur who grew up in Humboldt County, I was lucky enough to experience the hayday of cannabis culture on the North Coast. I’m proud that we have this opportunity to celebrate our legacy in the movement. Our resilience as a community has shown through the years that we are strong together, that we know what we have together. It’s great that we have Cannifest because cannabis really is in our heritage, and I couldn’t be happier that we have a way to come together, celebrate where we come from, and keep our story alive.

Big Thanks All Around, and All Who Make Cannifest Possible, See You There!

And a Big Thanks to Humboldt Nation for bringing me out to Cannifest, 2023!
