Lathebot Prototype (Automated Pen-maker, made from e-waste & scrap metal)

The lathebot makes pens.

It works...

I'm Joseph by the way.

Many of you in Humboldt know me as the pen guy.

I was making and selling pens.

I moved on...

Now I build machines. Such as this Wi-Fi-controlled lathebot I created mostly from salvaged parts.

It carves, sands, engraves, and waxes in one cycle. Push a button on the web interface, walk away for 15 minutes, come back to finished barrels.

Why am I selling it?

My focus for the past two years has been my project Fintron, an autonomous hedgefund built with cybernetic principles. It is not for sale or public consumption.

LATHEBOT SPECS:

Energy:

300W ATX PSU from a salvaged mini PC, which is plenty.

Tool Changer:

Machined mild steel wheel, 3D-printed inserts for sanding, engraving, waxing.

X & Y Axes:

Aluminum support rails to absorb pressure and eliminate wobble.

Motor Drivers:

Three DM542T stepper drivers powered by the PSU and pulsed by the microcontroller.

Brain:

ESP32 microcontroller flashed with Arduino C, Wi-Fi control, two pen-turning scripts built-in.

Conclusion:

If you want a one-off automated manufacturing cell and the story that comes with it, then here it is. If you just want a lathe, scroll away.

The price is $20,800 including the lathe and vacuum cleaner.

Take it or leave it...

Thanks,

Joseph
