With great honor and pride we bring to you the 2nd Mckinleyville Annual Christmas Lighting Contest, in Mckinleyville, CA! Last year the idea came to light when Keith Ownsbey pitched the idea in a local Facebook Group. Quickly several members from the community came forward to offer their help in creating and organizing the contest materials. Over 80 people joined the first contest, several won awards donated by local sponsors.
In partnership with the Mckinleyville Lions Club, Keith Ownsbey signed everyone up and rounded up the sponsors for the 2nd contest. I volunteered to make navigational maps for spectators to see on their mobile phones. Keith arranged for secret judges to come from out of the area, and when this is all over we'll have three winners for three different categories again! The categories are Best Inflatables, Best Decorated, and Best Light Show.
